Providing Food

“One person cannot change an entire nation, but together we can change an entire village. We have in fact changed many villages and restored the lives of thousands of people through the support of Epicenter Solutions and we have many more villages where solutions are needed.”

The solutions are simple.
The problems are preventable.

Food Solutions
  • Malawi is a nation of 13 million people in sub-Sahara Africa.
  • The average income in Malawi is $165.00 year.
  • 85% of adults are subsistence farmers.
  • 70% of all children are malnourished and 70% of the children under the age of 5 are chronically malnourished.
  • They are fed a low-nutrient diet of corn paste (nsima), the only food available to them in rural Malawi for much of the year.
  • Until recently, 23% of Malawi's children died before their fifth birthdays.
  • There are 12 million living below the poverty line and poverty is both widespread and severe.
  • Over 86 percent of the people live in rural areas with low very access to basic health (see medical solutions) and education services.
  • This is a vicious circle of poverty and most people are excluded from participating effectively in development opportunities.
