About EpiCenter Solutions
Epicenter Solutions is a non-governmental,
non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of
the people in Malawi and Mozambique. In compassion, Epicenter
seeks to provide food, access to clean water, education, and
the Word of God to this impoverished region of southern Africa.
In 2004, Pastors John Eastwood and Rick Cohen
took their first trip to the villages of the lower Shire River
Valley in Malawi. They were astounded by what they witnessed:
most of the population living on less than $1.00 US per day,
rampant starvation and dehydration plaguing millions, and
pandemic HIV/AIDS and Malaria that was leaving orphans in
charge of households, some just seven or eight years old.
Moreover, in events of adverse weather like drought or flood,
John and Rick saw that the sustainability of this agricultural
nation’s livelihood was jeopardized significantly. The
need in this region of the world was, and continues to be,
immense.
"For I hungered, and you gave
Me food to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me drink; I was a
stranger, and you took Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I
was sick, and you visited Me...” (Matthew 25:35)
John and Rick returned from that trip and made
a commitment to help these people, and the organization of
Epicenter Solutions was born. While they knew that the ultimate
motivation of this relationship with Malawi and Mozambique
would be to share the Gospel, they also understood that there
was a call on them and their resources to provide these African
brothers and sisters with basic necessities for survival.
They returned to the lower Shire River region of these countries
and began to ask the village chiefs and leaders what could
be done to help.
In the years since then, Epicenter Solutions
has developed and supported the following programs:
- Food
- Water
- Medical
- Leadership
Now, Epicenter Solutions is looking for compassionate
partners to join us in our mission to break the cycle of poverty
and provide hope for the future for our brothers and sisters
in Malawi and Mozambique. The problems are preventable. The
solutions are simple.
