Africa is a continent of cultures. As such, it is often difficult to break through cultural barriers, even if the language barrier is broken. Things are simply “done differently” in different parts of the world, so when working alongside people, we have to find solutions with or within their culture, world view and mind-set. This takes time, but patience wins out in the end. We have local translators who we work with to explain those barriers and how to get past them or around them or even, if necessary, to work within them.

The primary goal of Epicenter Solutions is to save lives. The secondary goal is to nurture and subsequently produce complete self-sufficiency. We know that, due to the HIV/AIDS crisis, among many others, we must always consider “giving a fish as well as teaching to fish”. This can only come through leadership training. Our goal is not to teach people to follow us. It is to teach people to lead other people, and continue the process. We work with Nationals who come up with ideas and help coach them through to solutions and then provide the necessary tools and technology needed to achieve clean water, nutritious food and overall, personal health and hygiene. We sponsor as well as hold and teach at leadership conferences throughout the regions of Malawi and Mozambique.
